7 minutes to read

To install the Winbank e-loan Payment Gateway WooCommerce plugin, you will first need to contact Piraeus bank and apply for a Winbank e-loan, following 3 simple steps, without visiting a bank branch.

The bank, among other things, requires some information about your website, before making any approval. The requested information is your site’s url and IP address. In case you face a problem with listing these details, it should be clarified that as an IP address you will need to declare the external IP address of the server that serves you.

Then, if your request is approved by the bank, you have the opportunity to install the plugin, following the steps below:

Installation and activation

  1. You are logged in with administrator rights to your website.
  2. From the control panel select “Plugins” and then “Add New Plugin”.
  3. At the top of the page select “Upload Plugin”.
  4. From the box that will appear, click on “Select file” and in the pop-up window, select the .zip file that was downloaded from our website, during your purchase.
  5. Click “Install Now” from the dialog box.
  6. After the file is successfully uploaded, you will be presented with the “Activate Plugin” option, which you select.

Initial settings

  1. From the Web Expert option in the Control Panel select the plugin.
  2. Fill in your e-mail and the API you received by purchasing the plugin, in order to ensure its correct operation and automatically receive updates of new versions.
  3. Click save changes to complete the settings.

Then go to WooCommerce Settings in order to configure the settings of the gateway:

  1. The first item, “Enable/ Disable” should be defaulted to be able to use the gateway.
  2. In the next option, “Test Environment”, if you are doing a test check, check the box to enable it and set the test mode.
  3. Where “Title”, the displayed name of the plugin on your page when completing the order and “Description”, the explanation that will accompany this title.
  4. In the fields “Merchant Code”, “Client ID” and “” fill in your details from the e-mail communication with the bank.
  5. Below, in the “Product Code”, select the interest rate that will apply, Floating rate, Zero interest rate, Partially Subsidized rate or Fixed interest rate.
  6. In the “Max installments” field, you can define the maximum number of installments you will make available to your customers. The minimum number of doses you can set is 6 minimum doses
  7. Then, in the “Installments” field, you can define the range of installments depending on the order amount, based on the auxiliary format written just below this field, in the examples.
  8. Finally, the last transactions with the bank are automatically displayed in the recording field.
  9. Click save changes to proceed.

Test transactions

Winbank e-loan Payment Gateway, like all banks, requires the system to be tested for proper operation. To perform this check, you are required to perform a test trading scenario by following these steps:

  1. In the plugin settings you fill in the demo credentials Merchant Code, Client ID,
  2. Then enable the test environment from the plugin settings.
  3. From the Control Panel, select “Products” and create a new product. We recommend that, when creating this product, you set it as private in order to preserve the smooth operation of your online store.
  4. Go to your website and place a new order with the test product you created in the previous step.
  5. In the test transaction you must choose one of the products (Floating rate, Zero interest rate, Partially Subsidized rate or Fixed interest rate) and the amount and duration of the loan must be within the limits indicated: Loan amount: €200-€7,000, Duration: up to 48 months for amounts €200-€7,000 <=€3,000 or up to 84 months for amounts >€3,000
  6. At the end of the test transaction, you should inform the bank about the successful completion of the test operation so that they can send you the live codes.
  7. Then, from the WooCommerce Winbank e-loan Payment Gateway plugin settings form, disable the gateway, that is, the first field of the settings and not the plugin. In this way, you close the gateway temporarily, until you receive the approval from Piraeus bank. Also, at this point you can delete the test order and the product you created.
  8. Finally, after the bank contacts you again, approving the correct functioning of the gateway, you can go to the settings to reactivate the gateway, replace the test codes with the new live ones that will be sent to you and disable the test environment field. It should be noted that the wait for the bank’s final approval lasts a certain number of days, as long as the conditions set by the bank are met.
